In and around the valley there is scope for many activities.

The Ski season lasts from December to May and has one of the sunniest climates.

Trekking and walking opportunities are varied and we can take you on some of the simplest ones, and provide you with links to maps/directions for the more demanding.

Cycling is also very popular and our garage facility at Jardines de Pinos makes the storage of your bikes simple.

Also we can direct you to rock-climbing, pony-trekking, sailing, and kite-surfing places.

But best of all for us, of course, are the gentler pleasures of walking from village to village, along little-used roads and paths, to encounter a glass of wine or beer and fresh tapas at the end of the stroll. We can put you in touch with like-minded people, even give you a chance to practice your language skills, just ambling around the Valley.

Fiestas abound in Spain because Saints abound in their religion. There are more Saints’ days than days in the year, so don’t be surprised if you hear a lot of fireworks on your visit.

Of course the most famous is Easter Week in Granada and such Processions are very memorable but it is also possible to see them in smaller villages where you aren’t crushed by crowds.

The local markets that stand out are in Durcal, a very Spanish local affair, and Orgiva, a multi-cultural market owing to Orgiva’s prominence as a centre of “New Age” culture. The Sunday “Rastro” in Almuñecar is also worth a visit if, like me, you can’t resist a car boot sale with sun, tapas and playa.
